At an early age, Gerald starting learning all about excavation and drainage from his father and brother who were both in the business. In 1972, Gerald started running heavy equipment for Weyerhaueser Lumber Co. From there, he transferred to Cooper Communities and worked with his father, Tom Ellison. In 1975, he started working in the construction business carrying lumber. In 1980, he subcontracted framing and trim carpentry for local builders. Ellison became a master carpenter and learned extensive knowledge pertaining to the building industry, stressing the importance of framing and foundations. Two years later, he became a general contractor in residential building. “Becoming a builder was challenging and interesting,” said Ellison. “From the first day, it was like I was meant to build. It came very easy and naturally.”
Since then, Gerald has learned how to better perfect his skills in the building industry and create a quality, energy-efficient custom home for clients. Gerald has a reputation for quality, honesty, and integrity. “Following up and staying connected with the clients is one of the key issues in this industry”, says Ellison. The Gerald Ellison Construction Co., Inc. family is both passionate and customer-service driven in building quality, custom homes. Affordability and amenities are always discussed in details with the clients through a one-on-one consultation. Gerald is available for consultations or discussions at the home owner’s availability, especially if they live out-of-town. Gerald oversees the entire building process from start to finish knowing that the customer is receiving the best product possible. He has a vast knowledge in all fields of the construction process and discusses all aspects extensively with sub-contractors to assure that we all are accomplishing the same goal, which is to give the customer the finest custom home possible, with 37 years of experience to support that statement.
Ellison’s son and daughter complete the family business. Steve and Deidra Ellison are a vital part of this business as well. They both grew up on the job sites working with their father learning at an early age what their father’s business represented. Steve provides support and knowledge in the building side of the business, working closely with his father with a hands-on approach on the job site. Deidra is along side of her father working closely with the homeowners keeping records of selections from suppliers and guiding them through the process. She also handles all of the financial aspects, as required per each project, and oversees the clerical side of the business making sure all documentation for the business is properly conducted. Prior to joining Gerald Ellison Construction Co., Inc., Deidra worked as a business manager for a cosmetic counter in a major market department store, where she received extensive knowledge in business. Our mission as a family business is making a dream become reality.
